Color Quiz
Now that you’ve watched the lesson on color it’s time to test your understanding of what we covered.
Readability
Please identify which image is the best for readability.
Show the Answer
Image A is the correct choice. Image A’s wordart uses colors that are the most easily read against the background that was used here. Image B’s accent color is difficult to read. Image C’s accent color is a little easier to read, but the color seems to clash with the rest of the design.

Which are the neutral colors and the accent colors in this image?
Show the Answer
Here we have an even three and three. The first three colors are the brighter colors and would work well as accent colors. The last three colors are neutral shades of a brown/gray tone.

Of the three images which one is the most appropriate use of color?
Image A
Image B
Image C
Show the Answer
Image B is the correct answer. Image A is close but if you have a light background, the accent color is almost too light to be easily read. Image B is better because the change in accent color makes all of the wordart very readable. Image C is all wrong. The accent color is overpowering the wordart because it wasn’t used for the accent words. And the accent words are too light in color and might be difficult to read.

Which of the three is the most readable?
Image A
Image B
Image C
Show the Answer
Image C is the correct answer. Images A & B are still readable but Image C, where the accent is red, is the most readable. The red color is the most visible against that color background.

In which of the three images does the type match the overall design the best?
Image A
Image B
Image C
Show the Answer
This was actually a trick question. The correct answer is that ALL THREE images are correct. In each case, the flower element is the piece that determines what type accent color I should use. In all three examples, the flower is slightly different and I adjusted the type for each example so that in each image, the type would ‘go’ with the rest of the design.

Please identify the neutral and accent colors here.
Show the Answer
Here we have four colors that are great for accents and two that are perfect for neutrals.

Of the three images, which one is uses color most correctly?
Image A
Image B
Image C
Show the Answer
The most correct answer here is A. Image A has the bulk of the word art using a neutral shade with the accent color on the main word, you.
Image B isn’t actually wrong. You could use these two colors together and get away with it. But we are using two accent colors here and depending on the rest of your project, the potential for this wordart to compete with your photos is higher.
Image C is all wrong. First, I used too light of a neutral shade and that is making the word you difficult to read. Second, I used a neutral for the accent word and an accent color for the neutral words. But even if I had reversed the colors, if I had a light background, the creamy white neutral shade here is too light and makes things difficult to read.
